About Marigold |
I am Barbara Murison and I own and operate Marigold Enterprises.
Most of this I do on my own but I have a wonderful support team of
voluntary proofreaders, people who come to stuff the envelopes four times a year,
and, of course, the publishers who show me such great material to say nothing of the
writers and illustrators who create it.
I have worked for and with children and teenagers for over 50 years (wow!)
wearing a variety of hats. These include working in school libraries both as a
librarian and later, for National Library as a Library Adviser; Head of Children's
Services at Wellington Public Library; organising youth clubs and perhaps, most important,
sharing books with children and adults, individually and in groups, a thing I have
continued to do over the years.
Through Marigold Enterprises I aim to help teachers, librarians, parents and all other
people who love good books for this age group, by bringing to your notice quality
materials that are currently available, mainly from New Zealand Bookshops, although
sometimes you may want to borrow them from your public library or School Library Service.
* In 2002 Storylines: The Children’s Literature Foundation of New Zealand presented
me with the Betty Gilderdale Award for services to New Zealand children’s literature.
In 2004 SLANZA (School Library Association of New Zealand Aotearoa) awarded me a
certificate of recognition for over 50 years (again!) in the development of quality
resources and expertise in libraries for children and young people.
And in the 2007 New Year Honours, I was made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit (MNZM) for services to children’s literature. |
